Welcome to Athletic Training

The art and science of athletic training has roots dating back as far as the stadia of ancient Greece, but the athletic training profession today is quite different. No longer do "trainers" carry water buckets and sponges while also acting as team managers.

Athletic Training Today, Certified Athletic Trainers (ATCs) are highly educated allied health professionals, recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA) as unique health care providers who specialize in the prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses that occur to athletes and the physically active. At the University of La Verne, Athletic Training is comprised of two interconnected programs. The Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). Graduates of the ATEP earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training and have been provided the content and experience necessary to successfully pass the Board of Certification (BOC) Examination and become Certified Athletic Trainers (ATCs).

Athletic Training The Athletic Training Service program provides athletic injury care, prevention, rehabilitation, and management services to the University of La Verne Athletic Department and visiting athletic teams. Additionally, the Athletic Training room serves as a laboratory setting for ATEP students under the supervision of faculty and staff certified athletic trainers. Together, La Verne Athletic Training strives to provide the best sports medicine care for our athletes and visiting athletes, as well as provide for the education and professional development of future Certified Athletic Trainers.
