Dean's Welcome

Jonathan Reed PictureWelcome to the College of Arts and Sciences, the historical core of the University of La Verne.  The College of Arts and Sciences engages students with an innovative and challenging education in the traditional disciplines of a liberal arts education, including the fine arts, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences.

Over eighty dedicated faculty encourage undergraduate students to choose from some fifty majors, minors, or certificate programs leading to a B.A. or B.S. degree.  Graduate programs in Psychology are APA accredited and include the Doctor of Psychology and a Masters in Counseling or Marriage and Family Therapy.

Our commitment to the individual student includes providing additional learning experiences beyond the classroom: every program has a hands-on or research component in the form of laboratory experience, field studies, international travel, professional internships, or volunteer service activities. With an emphasis on small classes and personal attention, the College of Arts and Sciences creates a partnership between faculty and student that promotes a well-rounded student-scholar prepared for the world and set on a path of life-long learning.

I welcome you to the College of Arts and Sciences and encourage you to go beyond browsing our web site-please call the admissions office to meet our faculty and students on campus.

Dr. Jonathan L. Reed
Interim Dean, College of Arts and Sciences
and Professor of Religion
