Lamkin to speak with BBC radio

The BBC will interview University of La Verne Professor of Music Kathleen Lamkin today during an interlude in a live performance of a Hadyn mass, the “Heroic Vienna,” performed by the BBC National Chorus and the Orchestra of Wales.

The radio broadcast will be streamed live on BBC Radio, at approximately 11:50 a.m., available at www.bbc.co.uk/radio3 (click on “listen live” link).

The concert is part of a global observance of the 200th anniversary of Haydn’s death, works done by Beethoven and and Mozart.

Lamkin, one of the world’s foremost authorities on Franz Joseph Haydn, travels to Eisenstadt, Austria, annually to study Haydn.

Her article, “Haydn’s Musicians at the Esterhazy Court, 1796-1802,” was published in Choral Journal, a publication dedicated to choral music and its performances.

Lamkin also wrote in Volume 6 of “The Musicians of 1790-1809 Considered from New Sources in the Castle Farchtenstein Archives,” which examines Haydn’s works.
