Members of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity have begun to clean the field and stands at Ortmayer Stadium after every home football game.
The members of the organization say they also go to the games to support the University’s football team.
“We enjoy the game, so we might as well help clean up after,” said senior and SAE member Jesur Habek.
The fraternity tries to get as many of its members to commit at least an hour toward the clean-up at every game.
“We want to support our sports but keeping it clean is pretty much the idea,” said senior and SAE member John LeJay.
SAE members can be seen at every football game sitting in the stands and cheering on the football team and then quickly after the game they walk through the stands picking up the trash.
They also get their hands dirty by cleaning under the bleachers.
“It’s amazing how much stuff is under the stands after a game,” said SAE President Kyle Quintero.
SAE members say they do a variety of other things that contribute positively to the University. Every year they brainstorm to find a such a project.
“Our faculty adviser Glenn Gamst thought it would be a great idea for us to help give back,” LeJay said. “Last year it was painting the fence by the field, this year we used his suggestion,” Quintero said.
Quintero said the fraternity’s commitment to a clean campus may not stop at the football field.
“I could definitely see us doing it for baseball,” he said.
