Lincoln’s speeches

The University of La Verne will host a presentation called “Lincoln’ Speeches Reconsidered” by John Channing Briggs from the department of English at UC Riverside at noon on Tuesday in the President’s Dining Room. Latina/Latino Retreat

A Latina and Latino retreat will be held Nov. 13 in the Howell Board Room, located on the second floor of the Landis Academic Center. Check-in for the event is from 12:30 to 1 p.m. and the program is from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Students, faculty, staff, mentors and alumni are all welcomed. A free educational seminar on “How to Prepare for Science, Technology, Engin­eering and Math (STEM) Career Opportunities” will be held on Nov. 18 from 5-7 p.m. in Campus Center Ballroom A. To RSVP for the event, contact Melissa Lau at mlau@laverne.edu and provide your name, high school and expected graduation date.

Bowling night

The Global Brigades will hold a bowling night fundraiser Dec.1 at Oak Tree Lanes in Diamond Bar from 6-8 p.m. The fundraiser is to raise money for under-served communities in Honduras. For more information please contact Allison Marsh at allison.marsh@laverne.edu.
