LVTV-3, La Verne Community Television, and the University of La Verne produced a winner and four finalists in the Alliance for Community Media’s Western Area Video Excellence Awards, known as the WAVEs.
The winning video for the sports coverage category, “La Verne Little League Minor Championship,” was produced and directed by Public Access TV Coordinator Christopher Hruby and co-produced by TV broadcast major Chad Loury, who graduates in January.
“We pretty much figured out which was the best sports video for the sports category,” Loury said.
The WAVEs are sponsored by the Alliance for Community Media and honor the best community television productions in the Western United States.
The finalists included performing arts coverage, which was entered along with the “Bonita High Pop Show,” produced by Donald Pollock and co-produced and directed by Shane Rodrigues.
“Cowgirl Up,” produced by senior Amanda Gomez was a finalist for sports entertainment.
The entertainment/variety programming category finalist was the video “Cup of Toast,” produced by Nick Pignotti edited by Geoffrey Ireland and shot by Phi Van Le.
“Wish You Were Here: Pasadena,” was produced by Mary Cotner, edited by Jonathan Frankera and shot by Mary Gonzalez.
“We knew the film was good, but we never imagined we would be nominated for a WAVE award, it’s a great feeling.” said senior Phi Van Le.
