Harvel Lewis’ legacy as “Mother of Diversity” at the University of La Verne carried through Sunday, outside of Founders Hall, where a tree was dedicated in her honor. Her husband Robert Lewis, senior adjunct professor of sociology, and President Stephen Morgan unveiled the plaque to friends and family during the dedication. Lewis spent her 20 years at ULV promoting cultural diversity and helping to establish several support groups for African-American students. / photo by Christopher Guzman
