The Dessert Shoppe located in the heart of old town San Dimas is a dream that became a reality for husband and wife owners Sydney and Xenia Train.

Inspired by their love of creating various desserts, they opened the bakery shop in July 2009.

Now they are able to share their passion with family, friends and all the customers who stop by.

Constantly creating new special treats and desserts, such as cheesecakes, cupcakes, cookies and chocolates, they also offer a variety of sandwiches and salads made fresh daily.

“Working at the Dessert Shoppe lets me and my wife be creative on a daily basis,” Sydney Train said.

“We had been doing this as a side business for over 10 years, and due to the decline of the economy, and both of us getting laid off in the past two years, we thought it was the right time to follow our dreams and open the shop,” Sydney Train said.

“It was almost a blessing in disguise that it happened because now we are doing what we love,” Sydney Train added.
His wife shares his enthusiasm for what they do as well.

“Working in the shop is always enjoyable,” Xenia Train said.

“Even if we spend the day making cakes and cookies, it is exciting to keep up with the trends in the baking industry.

Whether it be cupcakes made from cookies, muffins, or cakes, the variety of flavors and combinations we offer helps give us a variety of products for customers,” she added.

When asked about the trends in baking right now, Xenia said it is all about being health conscious.

“The newest trends that we deal with are making a product that is healthy and still tastes good. Having items available for customers that are gluten-free and sugar-free makes our shop more accessible to people who might not otherwise be able to indulge in sweets, or those who are cutting back,” Xenia Train said.

The Dessert Shoppe is located in a convenient place in downtown San Dimas and is well suited for college students.
“Students can come here and indulge in items without breaking the bank,” Xenia Train said.

“Students can definitely come here and afford items on a budget, everything is not only reasonably priced but you are getting fresh, high quality food at a low cost,” Sydney Train said.

Customer Derek Alexander Shorb thinks that the Dessert Shoppe is a great place to visit.

“I work at the strip mall across the street and I’ve swung into the Dessert Shoppe a few times on my lunch breaks. The panini’s are always really good, and I love the cannolis,” he said.

There is something for every mood and every taste at the Dessert Shoppe.

Sydney and Xenia definitely have some favorites from the many desserts they create.

“The chocolate explosion is one of my favorite items on the menu,” Sydney Train said.

“We hosted a customer’s 80th birthday party here and she gave us a dessert recipe that had been passed down from generations of women in her family. We used that as our starting point, combined it with some of our own flavor and created a bestseller,” Sydney Train said.

Xenia Train’s favorite is the New York Style Cheesecake.

“Our cheesecake is always fresh and it is served with fresh seasonal berries on top,” she said.

In a great storefront location in area of San Dimas with attractive developments and retail centers, it is definitely the place to satisfy your sweet tooth.
