Claremont boutique brings fashion to Village

Customers of Nectar have no need to worry about seeing their recently bought dress on someone else.

The clothing boutique in Claremont offers original pieces that are limited in stock and frequently rotated.

With Nectar’s affordable and fashion-forward merchandise, customers are learning that it is a one-of-a-kind retail store.

“The store has an eclectic style that is not found in any other store I have been to,” Amanda De La Vega Tovar, Azusa Pacific sophomore, said.

Nectar is located in the Claremont Village on the corner of First Street and Indian Hill Boulevard.

The boutique is one of two stores with the same name. The first store opened in Redlands and did so well that the owner decided to expand.

Nectar carries all types of clothing as well as accessories, such as handbags, jewelry, hats, shoes and hosiery.

“We are not as pricey as Urban Outfitters, but not as generic or cluttered as Forever 21,” said Katie Title, sales associate and La Verne senior business administration major.

The store’s most popular brands include Tom’s shoes, Ellison, Lush, Flying Monkey and Lovely Day.

Tom’s shoes are a customer favorite because Nectar is one of the very few retailers in the Claremont Village that carry them.

College students make up a large portion of Nectar’s customers, particularly those from the Claremont Colleges, University of La Verne, Azusa Pacific University and Cal Poly Pomona.

Only a few pieces of each style are carried at one time, which ensures that the merchandise remains unique and not overdone.

“We get new shipments every week,” Title said. “We only receive six units in each style.”

Some customers have made Nectar their one and only stop for every occasion.

“I shop at Nectar for going out dresses, jeans, jewelry and even for professional attire,” Bryanne Pond, a freshman at Azusa Pacific, said.

Although the popularity of Nectar does not show it, it is fairly new to the Village.

“On Nov. 12 we will be celebrating our one-year anniversary in the Village,” said store manager Sarah Kuhlberg.

The hottest item currently trending among customers this fall are boots that are carried in a wide variety of colors and styles.

“We are selling out of our fall boots so fast, we can hardly keep them on the shelf,” Cal Poly sociology major and sales associate Lauren Hamm said.

Nectar also has a website where customers can shop online.

The online store has merchandise from both locations and even some web specials.

In addition to its website, Nectar has a Facebook as well as a Pinterest.

Followers of their social media can receive up-to-date notifications on trends and new merchandise.

Gift certificates are also available and make great gifts for any fashionable woman. For more information visit www.nectarclothing.com.
