Head women’s soccer coach Wendy Zwissler will not return for the 2012-13 season.

Zwissler guided the team for 19 years, taking the position in 1992 after coaching the La Verne women’s tennis team the spring before.

Across the last six seasons Zwissler led the squad to a cumulative record of 25-73-7.

In her first seven years of coaching, Zwissler accumulated an 80-45-3 overall record.

“We as a department are moving towards having a full-time head coach for each of our sports programs,” athletic director Julie Kline said. “We were able to identify resources to have a full-time women’s soccer coach.”

Zwissler will still be a full-time member of the faculty.

“Professor Zwissler is a great teacher in the classroom and we look forward to her increased teaching role for the college,” Jonathan Reed, interim dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, said.
