‘The Agony of Colin Powell’

The last performance of Ralph Saldana’s senior directing thesis, “The Agony of Colin Powell,” starts at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Dailey Theatre. Written by Professor of English William Cook and starring Lavelle Wilson, the play is a dramatic monologue in one act portraying the spiritual and emotional pain of a man in conflict. Tickets are $5 for general admission and $3 for students.

Ethnic Difficulties

The local band Ethnic Difficulties will play at the 12th Annual National College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational. The event runs from 10 p.m. to midnight Saturday in Campus Center Ballroom. The band will play jazz and R&B along with their own compositions. For more information, call 909-538-0148.

‘Education Under Fire’

The Interfaith Student Council and Office of Religious Life will host a human rights event from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday in Campus Center Ballroom A. There will be a screening of the documentary “Edu­cation Under Fire” and a panel discussion featuring director Jeff Kaufman, Pedram Roushan, and other members of the Baha’i faith community. La Palabra

Poets Xochitl-Julisa Bermejo and Coatl will perform at the La Palabra poetry event starting at 2 p.m. Sunday at Avenue 50 Studio in Highland Park. The event begins with open mic sessions. For more information, call 323-258-1435 or visit avenue50studio.com.
