Student film festival
The communications department will host its annual student film festival with two screenings on Friday. The first screening, beginning at 3 p.m., will feature videos produced by communications students during the spring semester. The senior film screening will follow at 6 p.m. Both screenings will be in the Arts and Communications Building, room 212.
The art department invites the La Verne community to an informal exhibition of paintings. These pieces come from 15 students who participated in this semester’s Painting II course. The exhibition runs from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Arts and Communications Building art studio area. Refreshments will be served. Admission is free.
LA International New Music Festival
At 8 p.m. Monday, the final concerts of the inaugural Los Angeles International New Music Festival will be held at the Colburn School. Each performance will be preceded by a discussion with the concerts’ composers and musicians starting at 7 p.m. General admission is $38, $28 for seniors over 65 and $10 for full-time students with I.D. An exhibition of painter George Romero’s recent work, “City and Country,” will be on display at Avenue 50 Studio. The exhibition is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, or by appointment.
