Guarding the crosswalks

Tiffany Kinslow, who is also crossing guard for Roynon Elementary School, helps freshmen Ashley Valiente and Ashley Hernandez cross D Street on their way to class. After the city received complaints about pedestrians not paying attention, the La Verne Police Department hired crossing guards for two busy D Street intersections for the next three weeks. Their charge is to regulate car and foot traffic, which have been increasingly problematic thanks to record high enrollment at the University. / photo by Zachary Horton
