The Santa Fe 3751 roared past La Verne Sunday, traveling from Bakersfield to Los Angeles on a rail fan excursion. The 4-8-4 steam engine hauled its first passenger train in 1938, and thanks to the San Bernardino Railroad Historical Society, Santa Fe 3751 still carries passengers through Southern California on 80-inch drive wheels, and can be viewed south of Arrow Highway between San Dimas Canyon Road and Wheeler Avenue. The San Bernardino Railroad Historical Society was founded in 1981. / photo by Mitchell Aleman
