The softball team christened its new Campus West home by winning three of its last six games last weekend, facing Chapman, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Arizona Christian.
Freshman pitcher Hayley Jaquess leads the Leopards to a win in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader, by throwing a shutout against Cal Lutheran, 2-0, at Wheeler Park. Jaquess pitched seven innings registering only five hits.
The stands were filled with students, parents, alumni and other members of the La Verne community to commemorate the grand opening of the Campus West athletics facility. Located on Wheeler Avenue, the new baseball and softball fields at the facility finally made their debut Tuesday.
