The men’s soccer team tied with the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags, 1-1, after both teams failed to score a goal in the two overtime periods Saturday morning at Ortmayer Stadium.

The humidity in the air wasn’t the only thing bringing the heat in this seasons opening men’s soccer game between the Whittier Poets and the Leopards.

Boye Christiansen became restless with his normal routine, so he packed up his soccer ball, said goodbye to his family and traveled 5,000 miles away from his native Stavanger, Norway, to find a new stomping ground in La Verne.
