The men’s water polo team finished the Southern California Intercol­legiate Athletic Conference with a 3-7 record and placed sixth in the tournament with a 1-2 record.

Coming off a great win over Occidental, the football team rolled into Saturday’s game looking to emulate that success and earn a win over Cal Lutheran but came up short and suffered a 52-17 defeat.

The volleyball team had a very successful weekend at the Leopard Invitational, winning all four of their matches to bring their overall record to 14-7.

La Verne struggled to find its momentum with many lost opportunities from shots on goal to counter attacks on both ends as it fell short to Cal Lutheran Wednesday at Las Flores Park, 11-5.

They are ranked in the top 15 nationally in two polls and are trying to win their fifth Southern California Intercolleg­iate Ath­letic Conference title in a row, yet they do not get recognized half as much as the other less successful teams on campus do.

After having the first game of the series cancelled on Friday, the Leopards took on Cal Lutheran for a doubleheader Saturday at Ben Hines Field. La Verne won both games by scores of 7-5 and 8-0.
