The baseball team won Saturday’s doubleheader against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at Arce Field. The Leopards’ timely offense was the reason for the game-one win, 8-2, before taking the second, 8-7.
A valiant effort was not enough as the men’s basketball team suffered a tough road loss to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 76-68, Saturday at Ducey Gymnasium.
La Verne played a tight defensive game Saturday at Claremont Mudd-Scripps. The Leopards led the game by 14 points until the Athenas came back in the second half. La Verne’s defense stood strong and they held on for an 82-77 win.

The men’s water polo team lost to the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags 15-6 Saturday morning at the La Verne Aquatics Center. But La Verne fans cheered as the Leopards went on to beat Mt. San Antonio College, 17- 13, later that day.
The men’s soccer team tied with the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags, 1-1, after both teams failed to score a goal in the two overtime periods Saturday morning at Ortmayer Stadium.
They blocked, passed and took several shots at the goal, but it was not enough for the women’s soccer team, losing to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 4-2 Wednesday at Ortmayer Stadium.
After ending last season with a record of 6-28 overall and 3-7 in conference, the men’s water polo team has high hopes for making it into the top four in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for the 2012 season.
