The debate team will part ways for the weekend as its members attend debate tournaments in New York and Oregon in order to prepare for the national championships.

Ranking 19th among more than 300 schools at the World Universities Debate Championship in Turkey last month, the University of La Verne debate team has proved to itself and to the University that hard work and dedication pays off.
The Hot Spots series continued Thursday as the University of La Verne debate team took on the issue of whether amnesty should be given to immigrants who live in the United States and have not passed the citizenship exam.
The University of La Verne debate team stood out among the colleges who competed in The United States Universities National Open Debating Tournament. The tournament took place at the Claremont Colleges on Oct. 4.
