Dolores Huerta inspires crowd to ‘¡Vive!’
In a campus-wide presentation ending diversity week, the multicultural council and student services had Dolores Huerta speak for the culminating event on International Women’s Day.
Give diversity groups a chance
The focus once you attend La Verne seems to shift in an odd way. Instead of the integral involvement of diversity groups on the campus, all you hear about is the Greek system. If it were not for the occasional flier or the students devoted to their cause, many diversity programs would go unnoticed to the student body.
Dialogue gives insight to culture
Many people struggle to understand the true meaning of accepting the differences of ethnic backgrounds, and how others might perceive situations in contrast to their own situation. These issues opened up discussion at the multicultural club event, “Walking in Others’ Shoes,” on socioeconomics Monday.
Students discover unity in diversity
Turn out was lower than hoped, and the event titled “Sexuality and Gender” part of last week’s Diversity Week, was changed.
Program addresses issues of diversity, race
Diversity week was filled with many events all with the goal of changing the way students think about social subjects, including a dialogue on race and ethnicity on Tuesday.
