Fire rages in San Gabriel Canyon
A brush fire, dubbed the Madre Fire, started at around 6 p.m. Monday in San Gabriel Canyon above Azusa. The fire burned until Tuesday evening and charred more than 250 acres of chaparral. Cause of La Verne fire unknown
On Friday afternoon a brush fire broke out in La Verne near Broken Spur Lane above Baseline Avenue. The fire burned nearly 27 acres of land and destroyed at least one structure despite the efforts of firefighters on the ground and aircraft dropping water. Fire fighters battle a blaze that started at approximately 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, just north of Foothill Boulevard between Mills and Amherst avenues in Claremont.
