It was a warm afternoon at the Fairplex in Pomona last week as I enjoyed a day visiting the Los Angeles County Fair. I was delighted that I did not have to pay for entrance into the fair, as it was La Verne Community Day – University of La Verne students received free admission.
As we near toward fall’s end and the holiday season, we see a huge rise in food trends. It gets a little ridiculous in October and November, when all of a sudden you feel as if you see everything under the sun could be pumpkin flavored.
Students want another on campus eatery, and 10 out of 16 students asked in an informal survey think that the University community would benefit from a deli-style sandwich shop.

There is a problem with the food we consume. A large percentage of it is imported; a lot of our food comes from foreign countries, especially China and various South American countries. It may be cheaper for big companies to produce food on foreign soil, but at what cost to consumers?
