Homecoming Week came to a close as the University of La Verne campus turned into the magical world of Hogwarts at the annual street fair and family weekend.
The Campus Activities Board introduced the 2015 Homecoming Court at the magical Lumos and Yule Ball Monday in the Campus Center.
Homecoming weekend highlights the student leaders who are involved on campus and represent the University of La Verne’s values. They are well-known by their peers for being highly involved, and the shallow approach of voting entirely on popularity does not carry over into college, especially not here at ULV.
What the Leopards hoped would be a magical day during Homecoming weekend turned out to be much less than magical for the La Verne football team, as it suffered a tough loss to the Redlands Bulldogs, 64-28, Saturday at Ortmayer Stadium.
The Homecoming court stood in front of five dance team members, who sat in cardboard cut-out televisions. The two static-free televisions that were working revealed Jose Serra as Homecoming king and Evelyn Bobbitt as queen.
The Athletic Training Student Club held its annual 5K Fun Run fundraiser during Homecoming weekend Saturday at Sneaky Park to raise proceeds for the club’s activities.
The Campus Activities Board and University students gave a toast to celebrate the 2014 Homecoming Court and congratulated the finalists during the Illuminations ceremony Monday at Mainiero Square.
