Rainy weather and chilly winds did nothing to dampen the Leopard pride of students, alumni and their families for the University of La Verne’s Homecoming fair Saturday.

On a cold misty Saturday morning dozens of people gathered in Sneaky Park for the University of La Verne’s Athletic Training Education Program’s 5K Fun Run.

As cloudy skies turned to sunshine Saturday so did the Leopards’ playoff chances as they beat Pomona-Pitzer, 34-24, handing the winless Sagehens their fourth loss.

The Campus Activities Board’s Romeo and Juliet’s Masquerade Ball last Thursday gave the Hanawalt House a romantic feel with dimly lit lights and masks all around.

The lights dimmed, the applause came to a slow stop and the scene crew set up a brick wall dividing the stage. Thus began an unexpected tale of romance as “The Romancers,” a play directed by theater arts major Zachary Green began Wednesday night in Dailey Theatre.

Homecoming for the football team Saturday was very welcoming as the Leopards walked away with a convincing 30-21 victory over Chapman.

Alumni, students, faculty, friends and family came out for several days of Homecoming events.
