Cross country competes in NCAA Regionals
Sophomore Brian Hayes was the first University of La Verne runner to cross the finish line in 10th place overall in the NCAA men’s cross country West Region Championships at Pomona-Pitzer Saturday. Following Hayes was La Verne’s Cristobal Gutierrez, who came in 12th place. The men’s team finished fifth overall. Hayes and Gutierrez will compete in Hanover, Ind., for the NCAA national championships...

Leopards finish strong in SCIAC
Senior Cristobal Gutierrez rounds the last corner to the finish line Saturday for the cross country SCIAC Championships at Prado Regional Park in Chino. Gutierrez completed the 8,000-meter course in ninth place with a time of 26 minutes, 32.12 seconds. Gutierrez earned an all-league first team selection along with teammate Bryan Hayes.
