The 2011 cross country season is under way and La Verne’s team is on a mission to continue the improvement they have experienced under the direction of head coach Michael Atwood.
The men’s track and field team finished its season strong, taking third place in the SCIAC Championships with 100 points, 66 points behind first place Redlands.

Senior DeAntwann Johnson took second place in the 110 meter hurdles at the SCIAC Track and Field Championships, held at Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday. Johnson, a movement and sports science major in his first year on the track team, is a transfer student from Long Beach City College and was excited to place in the meet.

It has been a tough season for the women’s water polo team, finishing conference play with a 1-6 record.
Despite many chances, the Leopards could not overcome a four-run eighth inning by the Redlands Bulldogs, falling 7-6 on Saturday at Ben Hines Field in the most important game of the season for both teams.
Sometimes trying too hard does not work out well, which proved true Wednesday as the Leopards fell to the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas by a score of 13-7 at CMS.
