Student performers bared their hearts to an audience of more than 50 students at the “Tribute to Hip-Hop” open mic event in Dailey Theatre on Nov. 29.

The Very Intellectual Poets and the Black Student Union collaborated to host an open mic showcase that focused on the topic of Political Warfare with the presidential election right around the corner.

Cuban born poet Gabriela Garcia returned to La Verne to offer a spoken word performance Sunday in Morgan Auditorium.

Guests shared an evening of poetry and music about pride and overcoming oppression with the Black Student Union’s open mic night which featured special guest Besskepp.

In honor of the Ceasar Chavez and “Gaypril” celebrations the Scripps College Queer Straight Alliance had the group Climbing PoeTree perform on April 8 in the Score Living Room.

A fantastic mash-up of comedy, music and poetry made for a memorable night in honor of the Morgan Auditorium dedication week at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
