The University of La Verne swim team is well prepared for the upcoming Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference season.
Sophomore swim team member Madeline Lovrensky had a record setting season, capturing the SCIAC title for the 100 and 200-yard backstroke for the second year in a row, giving her four individual conference titles. She has not been beaten in a SCIAC event in her two years at La Verne.
After a season of rebuilding, head swimming and diving coach Pat Skehan and the Leopards are ready to make a splash in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
La Verne finished strong at its final home meet against the Caltech Beavers in a close 121-111 win for the men and a 116-106 win for the women.
With a new coach the swimming and diving team looks to be a top contender in SCIAC despite having one of the smallest teams in the conference.
The men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams finished the season against Occidental on Saturday, at the La Verne Aquatics Center.
The Leopards’ men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams dropped their home opener against the Sagehens of Pomona-Pitzer on Friday afternoon.
