Student Office Assistants*
Every semester, we hire a limited number of undergraduate students who qualify for Federal Work Study funding to assist us in the day-to-day tasks of running our office.
Student Career Advisor*
Student Career Advisors (SCA) assist traditional-aged, undergraduate students in the resume and cover letter writing process.
This position allows the SCA to share his or her knowledge and practice one-on-one advising with our student population. Being a part of the Student Career Advisor Team will allow you to help students realize their job related strengths. A Student Career Advisor must be professional, willing to work with a diverse population, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and outgoing.
Career Services encourages all traditional-aged, undergraduate students to apply for this rewarding position. Student Career Advisors are paid from Federal Work Study Funds. (If you are not allocated Federal Work Study Funds you are still eligible to apply for the position as a non-paid internship). Student Career Advisors set their hours depending on their school schedule and the needs of our office.
Requirements:
- GPA: 2.7 and above
- Hours: Minimum of 6 hours per week
- 1 year of experience as an office assistant in Career Services
Personal Attributes:
- Professional: Student Career Advisors must maintain a professional demeanor while conducting student appointments and working with staff and faculty.
- Outgoing: Student Career Advisors must be outgoing and friendly.
- Dependable: Student Career Advisors must work well with little supervision from others. They must be punctual, reliable, and able to meet appointments.
Duties:
- Resume Review: review and help prepare student resumes.
- Resume Workshops: plan a few informational workshops each semester for traditional-aged, undergraduate students.
- Career-Related Events: attend and assist staff in running various events throughout the year.
- General Administrative Duties: direct phone calls and inquiries, schedule appointments, and provide front desk assistance as needed
