Spotted PiG Campaign

Ever wonder what those pigs are doing all over campus now days? What is their purpose and why are people putting money in their pigs? Believe it or not, these pigs build the idea of philanthropy in our University. The University of La Verne aims to assemble a foundation in us, as students and future alumni to participate in the cycle of giving.  The spotted pig campaign works in hand with the Annual Giving department of the University and is committed to aiding students with funds when needed. Since we are a nonprofit organization, it is us-the student-who help our fellow peers by participating in this campaign.

Even before we leave University of La Verne, giving back is an important way for us to say thank you for all we’ve gained and how we’ve grown through our educational experience.  Did you know that regular undergraduate tuition does not cover the complete cost of our education? The difference is being met by alumni and friends of the university who have gone before us, and who give back because they know how vital this experience is for us. More importantly, part of our La Verne education is about caring for the wider world, and being global citizens. Those immediately around us, our very own classmates, can be impacted by participating in the Spotted PiG campaign as we focus our contributions on helping fellow Leos in need. Through the Student Emergency Loan Fund, students in crisis or facing a personal emergency can request small loans to help them make it through. Money raised from filling our Spotted PiGs allows these funds to be available when one of us has an emergency. I hope we don’t need this fund often, but I’m proud to contribute so that the funds are there if the time comes.
