A video, “Bonita High Pop Show 2012”, produced by Professor of Communications Don Pollock and adjunct professor Shane Rodrigues earned honors as a finalist in the Performing Arts professional category in the WAVE awards in Sacramento on October 20, 2012. Rodrigues also directed and edited the show.

Three videos produced by University of La Verne students also won honors at the same event.

“Pomona College Museum of Art” produced by Anthony Troli, McKinley Pollock, Marianna Pignotti, and Chelsea Stark-Jones won the WAVE award for best documentary event, non professional.

“Encaustic Tile” produced by Kaitlin Hollingsworth, Kyle Deeley, and Marie Tabarez was honored as a finalist in best lifestyle video, non professional.

“Behind Closed Doors” produced by Jazmin Barragan and Angelina Aulicino was honored as a finalist as best documentary issue, non professional.

“Pomona College Museum of Art” and “Encaustic Tile” were produced in Professor Don Pollock’s Advanced Video Production class as part of a video magazine program “Spotlight”, which features short documentaries on people, places and events in and around the cities of La Verne and San Dimas.

“Behind Close Doors”, a look at alcohol consumption on the “dry” University of La Verne campus was a senior project supervised by visiting professor Jake Huberman.

Also in October, Pollock made two presentations at the regional Alliance for Community Media conference in Sacramento. He made a presentation on “Dramatic Screenwriting” and moderated a panel on “The Case for Video in the Classroom”, where he also made a presentation on using video production in the classroom and in access organizations.
