La Verne Professor Wins Top Award for In-Depth Business Case

Associate Professor of Management Issam Ghazzawi's work won Best Case at the Western Case Writers Annual Conference.

University of La Verne Associate Professor of Management Issam Ghazzawi was awarded the Western Casewriters Association Best Case in the Proceedings Award at the WCA Conference March 14, 2013.

“Café Britt: A Costa Rica Pride” and its instructor’s manual is currently under review by the Business Case Journal, a leading peer-reviewed journal published by the Society for Case Research.

This MBA level in-depth case examines Britt’s growth strategy and how its international expansion opportunities can best be managed. It also focuses on the design choices that are available to create an effective organizational structure that could serve as a source for the company’s competitive advantage.

WCA was created to train and provide support to business case writing that is used for research and pedagogical purposes. The annual conference, which was held in Santa Fe, NM, was held for new and experienced case-writers who use cases in their classrooms.
