The University of La Verne A Capella Barbershop group is presenting the Barbershop Harmony Concert Thursday, May 9, at 7:30 p.m.

La Verne a capella groups, Ladies of Leo and the Leo Singing Dudes, will be joined by several other groups from the local community, including Hot Topic, The Music Committee, The New Fangled Four, The Fab Fourte and American Pastime for an evening of harmony and melody in the Ann and Steve Morgan Auditorium.

“This will be a fun evening of great harmonies presented in the 4-part barbershop tradition,” La Verne Adjunct Professor of Music Carol Stephenson said. “The Barbershop Harmony Society is celebrating its 75th Anniversary and the University of La Verne Music Department is excited to rekindle participation in this wonderful vocal music style in conjunction with that celebration.”

Stephenson, a barbershop enthusiast, organized the Ladies of Leo and the Leo Singing Dudes and directs most of their rehearsals, selects their music and coordinates their performances.

In addition to the La Verne performance, Leo Singing Dudes are set to perform in their first barbershop contest on May 11.

Admission is free for students and $10 for all others.

When: Thursday, May 9, at 7:30 p.m.

Where: University of La Verne, Ann & Steve Morgan Auditorium, 1950 Third Street, La Verne, CA 91750
