La Verne is an exceptionally vibrant university. More than 8,000 full- and part-time students are enrolled in more than 70 majors in four colleges – (1) Arts & Sciences, (2) Business & Public Management, (3) Education & Organizational Leadership, and (4) Law. We are all committed to providing every student with the best possible education so they can achieve their personal and professional dreams and hopes. By every measure our students succeed.
Why? We are blessed with a superlative faculty and staff. Most of our full time faculty have earned the highest degree in their academic discipline. Additionally, our part time faculty are deeply experienced and committed professionals in their fields. The professors care about the success of our students and also represent the evolving demographics of America. Many have multi-cultural roots and some were, themselves, the first in their families to go to college. As well as understanding how to mentor first-in-their-family students, our faculty are also adept at teaching students from households where parents and relatives have earned advanced degrees in higher education.
Since my first visit to the La Verne campus, I have been impressed with the extent of administrative support that is provided and available for all students. This support ranges from registering for classes, advising for coursework and careers, assisting with writing skills, and adjusting to college life.
While on our website, take some time and look at the social and co-curricular activities available to our student body. Just to name a few, these include athletics, fraternities, sororities, spirituality, national speakers, community service, multicultural advancement and honor societies. These activities are available for every student, whether commuter or campus resident.
Our courses and co-curricular activities are available to any student across our eight campuses and two military bases. The staff across all of these campuses is dedicated to providing excellent services to help students achieve success.
This is an exciting time to be at the University of La Verne! Look at our academic and campus innovations. A beautiful new campus residence hall with nearly 400 beds is under construction. It will be open for fall 2012. We are developing a new and truly distinctive curriculum – The La Verne Experience – which will explicitly link academic courses with corporations, government, and community organizations. You will have the opportunity, throughout your college career, to connect theory to practice and learn by doing.
I look forward to your on-campus visit. Come to campus, meet and talk with our students and staff, feel the cool green shade of our arboretum-like campus, and experience the dynamic excitement that surrounds this campus. This is an extraordinary time for the University of La Verne. I invite you to be a part of it.
