Patricia Arah Ann Taylor is the director of the Special Education programs at the University of La Verne. She is a certified behavior analyst in educational settings. Her areas of expertise are supporting learners with challenge in behavior and learning disabilities. She has training in psychology, neurology and learning theory. Her current area of focus is in depth psychology and its implications for collaboration and communication in educational settings. Before coming to the University of La Verne she was a principal with Los Angeles County Office of Education. Prior to that she taught learners with emotional disorders for 15 years. Her interest in communication of all types also takes her into other organizations such as animal shelters. She is interested in the communication processes as experienced across species and the psychological implications of such processes especially for children who are non-verbal. Pet therapy with children in special education classes is also an area of interest.
