- Born and raised overseas, Dr. John Bartelt considers
himself a globalist.
Throughout most of his life, he has taught, counseled,
worked with developmentally challenged adults, and
volunteered as a grief counselor and support group
facilitator for children and adults with cystic fibrosis, for
which he has received several awards and been a
featured speaker at CF medical conferences around
the world.
John is also an artist. He has produced and directed
videos, composed orchestral scores for educational
and adventure computer games, stage plays, ballets,
and documentary videos, and performed and recorded
with artists such as Jon Anderson (of the rock group
"Yes"), and Mary MacGregor. As an actor, director, and/
or sound designer of over two hundred theatrical
productions, John´s many professional acting credits
include the title role in "King Lear", and years of
performing Shakespeare in schools and Renaissance
Faires.
John taught part-time at ULV for ten years before
joining the Teacher Ed department as a full-time faculty
member.
