Students who could not attend La Verne without program funding have taken their fight right to the steps of the state capital.
They make the decision to pursue higher education and then they go it alone. The journey is long, fraught with impossible deadlines, crushing workloads, often at a dizzying pace. But they push their limits, often finding they can expand their capacity — for knowledge, for understanding, for discipline. Then that special day comes when a degree is conferred upon these collegians, a day worth all the struggle, their graduation. They sit impatiently, under their robes and mortar boards, ready to hurl their transformed beings at the future. Commencement.
