Academic Honesty Policy<\/h2>\n

Each student is responsible for performing academic tasks in ways that honesty is not in question.\u00a0 Unless an instructor specifically defines what is permissible in academic conduct, students are otherwise expected to maintain academic integrity in all their courses. When academic honesty is in question, faculty members may take appropriate disciplinary actions as outlined in the University Catalog<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Note that as of Fall 2023, a revamped and expanded academic honesty policy will apply even if you are pursuing a prior catalog. The academic honesty policy, as amended, as of Fall 2023 expands students’ rights and responsibilities and clarity of processes and sanctions.<\/p>\n

Classroom Conduct<\/h2>\n

Instructors are responsible for presenting appropriate materials in courses, and students are responsible for learning this material.\u00a0 Although it is a student’s academic performance that is evaluated in determining grades, student conduct is important to the academic setting.\u00a0 Each student is responsible for maintaining standards of academic performance for each course they enroll in. Classroom conduct is addressed in the University Catalog<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Note that as of Fall 2023, a revamped and expanded statement about professional classroom conduct will apply even if you are pursuing a prior catalog. The conduct statement, as amended, as of Fall 2023 expands students’ rights and responsibilities and clarity of classroom etiquette and behaviors.<\/p>\n

Judicial Procedures<\/h2>\n

University of La Verne’s academic and social judicial procedures permit students to register complaints against individuals or groups to Academic Deans, the Dean of Regional and Online Campuses, or the Dean of Student Affairs, as appropriate. Your rights and responsibilities are outlined in the University Catalog<\/a>.<\/p>\n

University Catalog<\/h2>\n

Students are responsible for policies and regulations that are found in the University Catalog<\/a> in effect at the time he or she is admitted, except in cases the govern academic honesty as described above since these expand on prior written policies that aim to ensure due process and fairness to the students who are accused of violating academic honesty or classroom conduct.<\/p>\n

Students are expected to understand all the regulations and requirements for the degree they are pursuing.\u00a0 Pleading ignorance to policies and procedures is insufficient to make exceptions or waive requirements.\u00a0 Although academic advisors will make every effort to assist students, the responsibility to meet all degree requirements and deadlines rests on the student.<\/p>\n

New catalogs take effect on Day 1 of each Fall Term. The official catalog is online<\/a> and is updated annually.<\/p>\n

ADA Accommodations in Courses<\/h2>\n

Students are encouraged to seek academic accommodations for learning or physical disabilities.\u00a0 The Accessibility Services Department<\/a> has been designated by the University of La\u00a0Verne to ensure access for all students with disabilities to all academic programs and university resources. Types of disabilities include medical, physical, psychological, attention-deficit, and\/or learning disabilities, and reasonable accommodations are provided to minimize the effects of a student\u2019s disability and to maximize their potential for success.<\/span><\/p>\n
