Strategic Initiative 1: Achieving Educational Excellence
The College of Business and Public Management will provide relevant, and innovative programs and courses that integrate theory and practice by concentrating on experiential learning activities and civic engagement. The programs will be designed to meet the employment needs of the regions business, public and nonprofit sectors.
- Explore the possibility of adding undergraduate and master programs in marketing, It security, supply chain management, and nonprofit management.
- Review existing concentrations in all CBPM programs, add/delete and strengthen where needed.
- Implement the hybrid mode of delivery for selected classes that meet for more than four hours per class meeting,
- Strengthen part-time faculty training, monitoring, and support.; hold annual training meetings for adjunct faculty, and conduct portfolio reviews on a regular basis.
- Promote student research and student- faculty research cooperation by providing the adequate resources for such activities.
- Support the business and health services program to achieve national accreditation.
Strategic Initiative 2 : Strengthening Human and Financial Resources
The College of Business and Public Management will strengthen human and financial resources by creating a supportive work environment where faculty, staff, and students can flourish and develop both personally and professionally.
- Increase full time faculty coverage to 50% across all locations, disciplines, and delivery modes.
- Attract new and diverse faculty who mirror the diversity of our students and are committed to the scholar teacher model.
- Enhance faculty, staff and student development by providing the necessary resources needed to present at national conferences, attend professional meetings and workshops.
- Enhance the balance in the composition of the faculty f by hiring more entry level faculty members.
- Develop with University Advancement a strategic plan for funding CBPM initiatives and involve faculty, staff, students, and alumni to achieve the following objectives.
i. Endow one chair per department
ii. Endow a lectureship series by department
iii. Name the College and house all the College staff and faculty in a single building
iv. Name the Summer REACH Business Camp and raise funds to ensure adequate funding for 100 students per year.
Strategic Initiative 3: Elevating Reputation, Visibility, and Prominence
The College of Business and Public Management will elevate its reputation, visibility, and prominence by highlighting faculty and student achievement, sharing its resources with the community, hosting national conferences, and bringing prominent speakers to campus.
- Publish a College newsletter to highlight the achievement of the faculty, staff, students, and alumni.
- Host one national conference per year
- Strengthen the support for the coffee, cake, and Conversation Lectureship Series and the BNI annual lecture.
- Create a speakers bureau of prominent business, health services, and government executives
- Re-engineer the Center for Strategic Thinking and the Center for Health and Aging.
- Provide opportunities for students to join national organizations through the development of La Verne chapters and clubs.
- Continue to strengthen the relationship with the College alumni.
- Redesign the College websites to better suit the needs of potential students, current students, faculty and staff.
Strategic Initiative 4: Enhanced Facilities and Technology
The College of Business and Public Management is in desperate need of faculty and staff offices, appropriate classrooms, and meeting areas for students. The College will work with the University to resolve such issues and to provide faculty and students access to needed technologies.
- Explore with UA advancement the possibility of naming the College of Business and Public Management and the start of a capital campaign for the College building.
- Provide faculty with mobile computing capabilities.
- Provide faculty, staff and students with the appropriate software and hardware needed for an efficient and effective learning and research environment.
- Implement e-portfolios to support student development and assessment efforts.
