Degree Requirements:

In addition to the foundation courses, the M.S. Finance degree will require students to complete 30 semester hours of coursework. Of the 30 semester hours, 21 semester hours are completed by the core courses. In addition, 6 semester hours will be completed by 2 elective courses. The remaining 3 semester hours are fulfilled by the Culminating Activity.

Minimum 4 units of College Algebra and Calculus

The foundation courses a student must fulfill are determined by a review of the student’s undergraduate coursework and professional experience. If foundation courses are needed, they should be among the first courses taken.

(3 semester hours): FIN 596 Financial Modeling and a minimum of 15 units in the program, OR FIN 594 Master’s Thesis in Financial Economics.

Admission Requirements
• Completed application, $50 fee (fee is waived for La Verne alumni)
• Current resume
• Personal statement of about 200 words, outlining goals for graduate study
• 2 letters of recommendation from professionals not related to the applicant
• Official university/college transcripts showing a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited school
• GMAT of 550 or higher will be required if the GPA for the last 60 semester hours is below 2.5

International Students
International Student English language requirement—TOEFL of 79-80, or IELTS score of 6.5 must be submitted. A TOEFL score of 68 to 78 or IELTS score of 6.0 will qualify for admission, and the student is required to take supplementary English classes.

La Verne is authorized to issue an I-20 only after international applicants have been accepted for admission, and have submitted a $200 non-refundable tuition deposit.

International students with F-1 or J-1 visas may apply to and attend class only on the Main Campus. To apply for admission, international applicants must submit all of the application materials listed, as well as a notarized original statement indicating how the student will meet their financial obligations for graduate study at La Verne.
