COVID-19 Safety Precautions

The University of La Verne is following County Department of Public Health guidance on Graduations based on San Bernardino County’s current tier (Moderate – Orange tier).

Based on the current tier, outdoor capacity limits, and the number graduates registering for the event, graduates will be allowed to have four (4) guests each.

Guest Requirements

As part of COVID-19 guidance, guests are asked to follow safety guidance:

  • All guests need to be from the same household/family unit and will need to sit together in such a way that they can maintain social distance from other guests. Seating at the venue will be marked off to ensure appropriate social distancing. Seating in blocked-off areas is not permitted.
  • All guests will be required to wear a face covering in accordance with CDPH Face Coverings Guidance and follow social distancing guidance.
  • No “walk-ins” will be permitted. All guests will need to have their assigned ticket with them. We recommend that guests make plans to come together to avoid guest ticket exchanges at the stadium entrance.
  • The event will be live-streamed. Live-stream information will be available on the commencement web page closer to the event date. Additional guests are encouraged to watch the live stream at home.
  • All guests will be required to complete and pass a COVID-19 screening questionnaire prior to arrival. Self-screening is required before entering the premises and can be conducted using the LiveSafe mobile app or the online form. Individuals who feel ill, have symptoms of COVID-19, or have potentially been exposed must not attend the event.
  • All guests will need to show a ticket and a cleared COVID-19 screening questionnaire to enter. Tickets and cleared COVID-19 questionnaires may be shown on a smart phone or printed copy.
  • Out-of-state attendees must abide by the California out-of-state travel advisory.
  • Guests are asked not to arrive more than an hour before the ceremony.

Graduate Requirements

  • All graduates will be required to wear a face covering in accordance to CDPH Face Coverings Guidance and follow social distancing guidance when entering, lining up, walking across the stage, etc.
  • Seats for graduates will be socially distanced. Moving or relocating seats will not be permitted.
  • No “walk-ins” will be permitted. Graduates who did not register will not be able to participate.
  • All graduates will be required to complete a COVID-19 screening questionnaire prior to arriving at event using the university’s LiveSafe mobile app or the online form.  Individuals who feel ill, have symptoms of COVID-19, or have potentially been exposed must not attend the event.
  • All individuals will need to show a ticket and passing COVID-19 screening questionnaire results to enter. Tickets and cleared COVID-19 submissions may be shown on a smart phone or printed copy.
  • Graduates are asked to come dressed in their regalia with comfortable and cool clothing underneath.
  • The ceremony will be contact-free. This means there will not be any hooding done at the event. Graduates are also asked not to hug, shake hands, etc.

University Employee Requirements

As part of COVID-19 guidance, staff, faculty, and stage party are asked to follow the following safety guidance:

  • All individuals will be required to wear a face covering in accordance to CDPH Face Coverings Guidance and follow social distancing guidance when entering, lining up, walking across the stage, and other activities. Speakers may remove face coverings while at the podium.
  • Seats will be socially distanced. Moving or relocating seats will not be permitted.
  • No “walk-ins” will be permitted. Individuals who are not registered will not be able to participate.
  • All individuals will be required to complete a COVID-19 screening questionnaire prior to arriving at event using the university’s LiveSafe mobile app or the online form.  Individuals who feel ill, have symptoms of COVID-19, or have potentially been exposed, must not attend the event.
  • All individuals will need to show a ticket and passing COVID-19 screening questionnaire results to enter. Tickets and cleared COVID-19 questionnaires may be shown on a smart phone or printed copy.
  • Individuals on stage or helping are asked to come dressed in their regalia with comfortable and cool clothing underneath.
  • The event will be contact-free. This means there will not be any hooding done at the event. Individuals are asked not to hug, shake hands, etc.

General COVID-19 Safety Measures

  • In alignment with CDPH guidance, event capacity is currently set for 33%.
  • There will be two hours between ceremonies to prevent overcrowding among attendees and to disinfect the stadium.
  • Hand sanitizer and hand washing stations will be available throughout the facility.
  • Face covering and social distancing requirements are mandatory.
