{"id":20,"date":"2017-11-12T12:15:16","date_gmt":"2017-11-12T20:15:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/evaluation\/?page_id=20"},"modified":"2018-09-07T13:53:00","modified_gmt":"2018-09-07T20:53:00","slug":"lvge","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/evaluation\/general-education\/lvge\/","title":{"rendered":"La&nbsp;Verne General Education"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For a detailed overview of the general education requirements for students who matriculate during the 2018-19 academic year, <a href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/evaluation\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/38\/2018\/09\/LVGE-Requirements-2018-19.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Full CSU-GE or IGETC Certification<\/h2>\n<p>At the time of matriculation, students who\u00a0<strong>completed<\/strong>\u00a0(fully certified) either the CSU-GE or IGETC certification, with a C- or better in all applicable courses, will be credited with fulfilling all of La\u00a0Verne\u2019s General Education requirements with the exception of the Foreign Language requirement, depending on the student\u2019s declared major.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CSU-GE and IGETC applicability of each course must be documented in the relevant college catalog or through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.Assist.org\">Assist.org<\/a>, the official repository of articulation for the State of California.<\/li>\n<li>Students must provide proof of certification when the final transcript is sent to La\u00a0Verne within the first term of enrollment after the student\u2019s admission date.<\/li>\n<li>Transfer students will still be required to fulfill the La\u00a0Verne Experience requirement which includes University Values LVE 200 (ROC\/CAPA students take LVE 300), Community Engagement CS 305 (or an approved course), and University Reflection LVE 400.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Partial CSU-GE or IGETC Certification<\/h2>\n<p>At the time of matriculation, students who have completed courses with a C- or better prior to matriculation at La\u00a0Verne that\u00a0<strong>partially<\/strong> fulfill selected CSU-GE or IGETC requirements will be credited toward partial fulfillment of similar La\u00a0Verne General Education requirements with the exception of the Foreign Language requirement, depending upon the student\u2019s declared major,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CSU-GE and IGETC applicability of each course must be documented in the relevant college catalog or through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.Assist.org\">Assist.org<\/a>, the official repository of articulation for the State of California,<\/li>\n<li>Students must provide proof of certification when the final transcript is sent to La\u00a0Verne within the first term of enrollment after the student\u2019s admission date.<\/li>\n<li>Transfer students will still be required to fulfill the La\u00a0Verne Experience requirement which includes University Values LVE 200 (ROC\/CAPA students take LVE 300), Community Engagement CS 305 (or an approved course), and University Reflection LVE 400.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Individual Courses from California Community Colleges<\/h2>\n<p>Students may complete individual courses at one of California\u2019s Community Colleges (CCC) both prior to and after matriculating to the University of La\u00a0Verne. Courses completed with a C- or better at a CCC, are approved as fulfilling an area requirement for either CSU-GE or IGETC requirements, will be used to fulfill a similar general education requirement at La\u00a0Verne. Students may still be required to fulfill a Foreign Language requirement depending on their declared major.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CSU-GE and IGETC applicability of each course must be documented in the relevant college catalog or through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.Assist.org\">Assist.org<\/a>, the official repository of articulation for the State of California.<\/li>\n<li>Courses completed pre-ASSIST or courses not found on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.Assist.org\">Assist.org<\/a> will be reviewed on a course-by-course basis using the University of La\u00a0Verne Descriptor Guidelines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Courses from non-California Community Colleges<\/h3>\n<p>Courses completed with a C- or better at a non-California Community College can be used to fulfill general education requirements, on a pre- and post-matriculation basis, at La\u00a0Verne provided that:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>the institution is accredited by an organization recognized at La\u00a0Verne;<\/li>\n<li>the course is considered to be at the baccalaureate level at the sending institution; and<\/li>\n<li>the course meets the content requirement for a specific LVGE requirement.
