Reporting Exposure to Novel Coronavirus

March 22, 2020

Dear university community,

The University of La Verne has received and will continue to receive reports from community members who may have been exposed to the novel coronavirus. We have established an online reporting form to help community members report exposure, and we are following guidelines from public health officials in responding to the novel coronavirus.

Reports are reviewed by representatives from the Coronavirus Monitoring Committee. As appropriate, they are also reviewed with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

The university will share information about these reports with the university community as appropriate. However, due to privacy restrictions, we may not be able to provide information about individual cases.

For community members who report a confirmed diagnosis and contact with campus, steps will be taken to notify other campus community members with whom the affected person has been in contact.

For community members who report exposure to the virus but have not tested positive, we are encouraging them to follow the recommended public health protocols. This includes asking affected community members to:

  • Contact a health care provider to discuss their risk and if they have developed symptoms
  • Engage in self-quarantine
  • Engage in best practices for hygiene and prevention
  • Remain in communication with the university about their condition
  • Self-report to people with whom they have been in recent contact

The university also acts on submitted reports by restricting affected individuals from university space and assisting employees with benefits and accommodations.

The health of our campus community is our top priority. Please continue to follow best practices for hygiene and social distancing to take care of yourself, your family, and those around you.

Please also continue to visit laverne.edu/coronavirus for information and resources.

Thank you so much for your cooperation and support.

Sincerely,

Coronavirus Monitoring Committee
