Update on COVID-19 Vaccinations
Faculty and Staff Colleagues,
As you know, COVID-19 vaccine distribution is taking place across the nation. Vaccinations in California are being distributed using a phased approach. Currently, those 65 and older are able to register and receive the vaccine.
Higher education employees will be able to register and receive vaccinations in Phase 1B-Tier 1. Most counties are in Phase 1A, with Phase 1B-Tier 1 projected to be next.
Each county is moving through the vaccine phases at a different pace. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has projected moving into Phase 1B-Tier 1 sometime in February, pending supply availability. Riverside County has recently moved to Phase 1B-Tier 1.
Below is a list of county vaccine websites. We encourage to review those websites to find out:
- When your home county enters Phase 1B-Tier 1;
- How to make an appointment to receive the vaccine;
- Documentation you will need to show, such as employee ID, payment stub, or employment confirmation letter. The Office of Human Resources will be sending employment verification letters to all employees, which includes faculty, staff, adjuncts, and student employees.
The university is still awaiting county and state guidance before finalizing a COVID-19 vaccination policy to support our safe return this fall. Until then, we encourage all eligible employees to be vaccinated, in alignment with recommendations or advice from your health care provider, as soon as possible, and to keep a record of your vaccination.
