This week, we will be holding another live State of the University address on Thursday, April 9 at 12:00 p.m. to provide another opportunity for faculty and staff to participate in the chat and submit their feedback.

Thank you for your hard work to help our students negotiate the first week of their online classes! We now need to look ahead to prepare for the next several weeks, which will bring unanticipated as well as predictable challenges.
As we continue to adapt to the novel coronavirus pandemic and plan for the future of the university, there are two principles that will guide our decisions and actions.

Thank you again for your response to the novel coronavirus pandemic and the challenges it has posed as we move fully online for classes, mentoring, and student support. Last week, faculty made great strides toward a virtual education for more than 7,000 students. Starting Monday, the students will show up.
The University of La Verne has received and will continue to receive reports from community members who may have been exposed to the novel coronavirus. We have established an online reporting form to help community members report exposure, and we are following guidelines from public health officials in responding to the novel coronavirus.
In light of the changes being made to our campus operations in response to novel coronavirus, the University of La Verne campus store will be offering additional services/extensions which will hopefully be helpful to you as you conclude the winter term and prepare for spring term.
Effective immediately, only staff who have been designated by the university as emergency personnel will be permitted to on any University of La Verne campus. All buildings will be locked, and all non-emergency employees are required to work remotely.
As challenges from the novel coronavirus mount both locally and nationally, we have made the strategic decisions to keep our students, faculty, and staff safe while continuing to deliver our University of La Verne education. The precautions we have taken, while sometimes difficult, will help to save lives.
The University of La Verne’s Emergency Catastrophic Donation Leave will provide employees an opportunity to support their peers who are facing leave related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

I write this letter with deep appreciation and admiration for how University of La Verne faculty and staff have responded to the novel coronavirus pandemic and the challenges it has posed to our students.

Due to the rapid spread of the disease, the University of La Verne Coronavirus Monitoring Committee and university administrators have recommended that we take enhanced measures to ensure the safety of our campus communities, support the effective operation of the university, and contribute to managing this global pandemic.
