Spring 2020 Policy Updates

Credit/No Credit (CRD/NCR)  Spring 2020 Policy

Due to the extraordinary impact of COVID-19 and the move of all courses online, the university is making an exception to its Credit/No Credit (CRD/NCR) policy for spring 2020 semester/term.  This decision was made to address issues of educational equity for all students.  For many, navigating the online learning environment will present significant challenges such as internet and computer access, appropriate space to study, loss of peer support and a steep learning curve while transitioning to Blackboard.  We understand that the shift to online courses may create feelings of uncertainty.  It is our hope that having a choice to select Credit/No Credit for any or all of your courses will minimize any adverse effects on your academic progress.  Courses that are taken for CRD/NCR will not be calculated into the student’s grade point average.

UNDERGRADUATE: This policy allows undergraduate students to select the Credit/No Credit (CRD/NCR) option for any or all courses, including those that do not normally have the Credit/No Credit (CRD/NCR) option. Courses taken CRD/NCR are eligible to fulfill General Education requirements and requirements in the major, minor or concentration.  If a student earns the equivalent of a letter grade of C- or higher, the student will receive credit for the course (CRD).  If the equivalent of a grade of D+ or lower is earned, the student will not receive credit for the course (NCR).  To select the CRD/NCR option, students must submit the Spring 2020 Grade Option Change Form by May 21st.

GRADUATE:  Graduate-level policies for Credit/No Credit (CRD/NCR)  Each graduate program will notify its students by April 10th of the decision to allow the CRD/NCR option in some or all courses within the program.  This decision will be made in accordance with licensing and/or program accreditation standards. If a student earns the equivalent of a letter grade of B or higher, the student will receive credit for the course (CRD).  If the equivalent of a grade of B- or lower is earned, the student will not receive credit for the course (NCR).  To select the CRD/NCR option, students must submit the Spring 2020 Grade Option Change Form by May 21st.

Suspension of Academic Warning, Probation and Dismissals Policy Spring 2020

Undergraduate students who were in good standing, or were on academic warning (AW), academic probation (AP) or Academic Dismissal going into the spring 2020 semester will continue to be on their respective academic standing tracks regardless of spring grades. If spring 2020 grades improve a student’s GPA to current policy standards, the student would be removed from warning, probation, or dismissal.  This policy does not apply to graduate students.
