SHC provides continuity of care by offering monitoring, medication maintenance, medication refills, and support with lifestyle evaluations and\/or modifications.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the <strong>student health center<\/strong>, chronic illnesses commonly encountered include:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li><strong>Asthma<\/strong> \u2013 recurrent breathing difficulties triggered by allergens, stress, or exercise. Mild severity<\/li>\n<li><strong>Diabetes (Type 1 or Type 2)<\/strong> \u2013 offers monitoring of glucose levels, laboratory testing for screening, and medication refills.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Thyroid disorders <\/strong>\u2013 offers laboratory testing, screening and medication refills.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Seizure disorders (e.g., epilepsy)<\/strong> \u2013 offers continuity of care with easy access to refill of medications<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mental health disorders<\/strong> \u2013 offers screening and referral to Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) department for counseling and\/or treatment.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>No referral needed for self-referral to CAPS at 909-448-4173.<span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Autoimmune conditions<\/strong> \u2013 offers continuity of care by offering laboratory testing for screening and medication. Examples such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, or inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), etc.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Allergic conditions<\/strong> \u2013 such as recurrent reaction to<span>\u00a0 <\/span>environmental or food allergies.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>Medication management provided<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hypertension <\/strong>\u2013 offers blood pressure monitoring, laboratory testing and screening, and medication refills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chronic illness are pre-existing medical conditions that require long term or repeated ongoing medical attention.
