Select Your Review Type<\/h4>\n<p>Before getting started, it is important to select your review type. Exempt applications are streamlined and require less information than expedited or standard reviews. Thus, knowing your review type is integral to preparing your\u00a0application. Follow these steps to select the appropriate type of review: 1) use the <span>decision charts<\/span> from HHS to ascertain if you qualify for an exempt review available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/irb\/does-my-study-qualify-for-exempt-review\/\">Does My Application Qualify as Exempt?<\/a> page, 2) if you do not qualify for an exempt review, read the <a href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/irb\/policies-and-procedures\/\"><span>nonexempt policies and procedures<\/span> <\/a>to ascertain if your study fits better as an expedited or standard review.<\/p>\n<h4>2. What to Include with Your Application<\/h4>\n<p>Click on the <a href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/irb\/submitting-your-irb-application\/what-to-include\/\">What to Include<\/a> link in the menu on the left to go over the types of materials you will need to attach to your application.\u00a0These documents should be prepared and signed (if required)\u00a0<span><strong>PRIOR<\/strong><\/span> to submission to the IRB; completed documents are <span><strong>REQUIRED<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0in order to be reviewed. For exempt reviews <span><strong>ONLY<\/strong><\/span>, recruitment\/site permissions and copyright permissions are not required.<\/p>\n<h4>3. Where to Submit Your Application<\/h4>\n<p>As of September 1, 2016 the La&nbsp;Verne\u00a0IRB started using\u00a0<span><a href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/irb\/irbmanager-basics\/\">IRBManager<\/a><\/span>\u00a0for all IRB submissions (applications, amendments, extensions, and closure forms). As of September 15<span>th<\/span>, any applications or forms submitted via email were no longer accepted. Please click on <span><a href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/irb\/irbmanager-basics\/\">IRBManager 101<\/a><\/span> to access tutorials and instructions for submitting an application through IRBManager.<\/p>\n<h4>4.
