Students interested in music, drama, and the visual arts will find a vibrant community of fellow artists at the University of La Verne, whether in classes, clubs, or at events on campus.<\/p>\n

Communications<\/h2>\n

Journalism<\/h3>\n

Do you have a story to tell? The University of La Verne has a number of strong communication programs designed to give you a voice. Pick up a beat for The Campus Times<\/a>, our award-winning student newspaper, or write a feature article for La Verne Magazine<\/a>, a twice-annual magazine.<\/p>\n

Radio and TV<\/h3>\n

Get on the air at LeoFM<\/a>, the campus radio station, or behind the cameras for LVTV-3<\/a> and KWST<\/a>, our department-run community access TV stations for the cities of La Verne and San Dimas.<\/p>\n

Creative Writing<\/h3>\n

Is fiction or poetry more your thing? Join our creative writing program<\/a> and help manage the PRISM REVIEW<\/a>, an annual contemporary poetry and fiction magazine featuring national and international authors.<\/p>\n

Debate Team<\/h3>\n

Thinking about something a little more persuasive? Our Debate Team<\/a>\u00a0is top-notch and competes against some of the best universities in the nation and abroad.<\/p>\n

Music<\/h2>\n

Moved by the music? Our Music Department<\/a>\u00a0offers a number of extra-curricular opportunities for music majors and non-majors to get involved.<\/p>\n

Join an ensemble<\/a>, including jazz, guitar, and the pep band. The La Verne Symphony Orchestra provides a unique opportunity to perform alongside faculty, staff, and community members. And our Chamber Singers, a 26-voiced audition-based group, has played to international acclaim, touring Europe as well as the United States.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t know how to sing or play an instrument?\u00a0 The university hosts dozens of concerts each year that you can enjoy as an audience member, and many of the shows are free for students.<\/p>\n

Theatre<\/h2>\n

The Theatre Arts<\/a> and Music departments works in close alliance to dazzle the campus community with several theater productions each year. Majors and non-majors alike can audition for the plays or musicals and participate in other creative events, like dance workshops and open mic nights, throughout the year.<\/p>\n

The university\u2019s performing arts facilities<\/a> include the 250-seat Dailey Theatre and the 70-seat Jane Dibbell Cabaret.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fine Arts<\/h2>\n

You can explore the fine arts and design<\/a> through classes and lectures, as well as view exhibitions by students and professional artists at the Harris Art Gallery<\/a>, the West Gallery<\/a>, and the Tall Wall Space<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Public art is important to the University of La Verne, and large-scale sculptures and murals can be found throughout campus.<\/p>\n

Photography<\/h2>\n

Through the Photography Department<\/a>, you can work with faculty to explore digital photography and refine techniques in the darkroom.
