University of La Verne Alumna Receives National Kinesiology Award

The American Kinesiology Association (AKA) selected University of La Verne alumna Kyndall Taylor ’17 as a recipient of the 2017 AKA Undergraduate Scholar Award.

The award recognizes kinesiology students across the U.S. and Canada who best demonstrate exceptional scholarly interest, leadership, and service in the field. Faculty members nominate them.

“I am very excited and humbled by winning this award,” Taylor said. “I am so thankful for the faculty in the kinesiology department for believing in me and pushing me to achieve my goals and aspirations.”

The AKA promotes the kinesiology field and supports more than 160 higher education kinesiology departments.

One student from each member college or university receives the award each year, said Thomas Templin, AKA president.

“These students have distinguished themselves by demonstrating an exceptional interest in the field of kinesiology through independent or guided research, service and leadership within the profession, and by exhibiting the potential for making a significant impact in the field,” he said.

Taylor, who graduated in January, hopes to launch a career working in an emergency pediatric department.
