University of La Verne students participating in the Enactus program, a community empowerment club, developed 100 solar water packs earlier this month to provide access to clean drinking water to families in the Tonlé Sap region of Cambodia.
University of La Verne Professor of Management Dr. Issam Ghazzawi has won the Jack Kahl Entrepreneurial Leadership Award in recognition of his contributions to the Enactus program, which shows students how to change the world through entrepreneurial action.
Enactus is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring students to change the world through entrepreneurial action. Students in the University of La Verne chapter apply the business knowledge they learn in the classroom to address real-world problems.

The University of La Verne’s 40 Enactus students – primarily business majors – tackled problems during this past academic year such as childhood obesity, unemployment, and poverty, using the knowledge they gained in the classroom to help improve their communities.
